Motif Unit: Humans Interacting with the Waters

Liane Carlo Suelan's "Deception," a sketch inspired by the Bontok folktale, "The Siren of Paling," features the two main characters, the siren and the human man, and their wedding scene where the man hides the key to the gates of her home behind his back. Although he hid it in a more clever manner, it serves as somewhat of a symbolic gesture of secrecy and deceit, understood better by those who read the story.
