Art inspired from the waters

Five Kids

"2019. Magsaysay Park, Davao City. Atop a concrete barricade, five children gaze at the seascape — the open waters, the lapping waves, the black sand, the sea vessels, and the distant island. They watch together under the scorching sun, unbothered."

"Waters are essential not just in life but as a medium of inspiration to create magnificent works of art. It is something that we should protect and at the same time celebrate"

WHAT DID YOU LEARN IN
PHILIPPINES LITERATURE
OF THE WATERS?

— Paul Gabriel Barranco

What's with the Waters?

The waters hold immense power in inspiring people to do pieces of work. More than its representation of life, it is a symbol of the Filipinos' creativity and culture. The Literature 130 subject of the UP Visayas, Philippine Literature of the Waters, opened doors of appreciation of Philippine waters and diversity of culture, which is present in the creative digests inspired from various literary pieces of poems, stories, essays, and more.
