Photo Collage

By: Gleeza Carisma and Janna Olivar

The photo collage is intended to visualize the message behind the poem-- through the use of various photographic pieces collected and combined in order to assemble a more creative and captivating piece of art. It explores the powerful technique of developing a flat work into a dynamic one without losing its definite meaning.

Water Bearer Drawing by: Karen Francisco

This artwork is inspired by Elsa Martinez Coscolluela’s vivid portrayal of her poem entitled, “Water-bearer”; a “Water-woman” that is significantly encrypted in the enduring passage of love and appreciation of all motherly affection and sacrificial investments a mother wholeheartedly bestows to nourish life. The presence of water reflects the clear intentions lingering through her veins, which bulge by the strength she induces to carry the burden of life within her womb; inside her embrace, like a jar of water she fetches from the oasis of life.
